Your week, simplified: March 13, 2023

Happy Wednesday! Megan here.

Weather check: It's giving spring

This week, I'm mixing things up a bit – in no small part because my whole family got sick – but also because it's important for me to take time to listen, too.

I've got a couple of very quick questions for you. Hit reply to this email, and let me know your thoughts! (Or, if emailing is too much to ask – just give me a thumbs up or thumbs down at the bottom of this email to let me know how I'm doing.) And then, bonus, I've also got the weekly event guide so you can plan all of your St. Patty's Day fun.

And now, not news:

QUICK QUESTIONS

  1. What type of content/section of this email gets you the most excited when you see Sioux Falls Simplified pop up in your inbox?
  2. What section of this email do you find yourself skipping over?
  3. What stories do you want to see 'simplified'? Are there stories in our community that you feel aren't being told but should be?

EVENTS

Stuff to do: St. Patrick's Day edition

  • Catch the parade. The 44th annual St. Patrick's Day parade will start its route down Phillips Avenue at 2 p.m. Saturday. It'll start on 13th Street and end at 5th Street.
  • Paint the shamrock. The traditional painting of the shamrock will also take place Saturday at 11 a.m. in front of the First National Bank at 100 S. Phillips Ave.
  • Hit the bars. Join the "official"Lucky's bar crawl starting at 4 p.m. at Rough Cut Social, or check out individual parties at Glacial Lakes, Blarney Stone, Full Circle Book Co-op, Remedy and, likely, many more spots.
  • Go running. The annual Lucky 7's event will have three separate races – a 5-mile, 5K and 1 mile. Or, make it a "Shamrock Shuffle" and do all three. Families are welcome – details and registration here.
  • Decorate cookies. The Upper Room in Brandon is hosting a cookie decorating class with a St. Patty's Day theme. Tickets are $40 for the Saturday afternoon class. More details here.
  • Pretend it's Easter already instead. Paws Pet Resort is hosting an "Eggstravaganza" for your four-legged friends on Saturday afternoon. The party will include a photo booth, crafts, vendors and an outdoor egg hunt for pups. More details here.
  • Skip the parties and catch a show. There are also two local theater performances happening this weekend. Catch "The Glass Menagerie" from the Premiere Playhouse Thursday through Sunday (tickets here), and Good Night Theatre Collective's production of "Sense & Sensibility" runs Thursday through Saturday (tickets here).
