- Support a stronger Sioux Falls.* The Sioux Falls Family YMCA is in the midst of its annual Strong Kids Campaign, with a goal of raising $150,000 to support a diverse range of programs, all of which aim to build strong kids, strong families and a stronger Sioux Falls community. Your gift (of any size) can support kids' ability to participate in things like Camp Leif Ericson, youth sports and after-school programs. Learn more and donate here.
- ๐Last chance for leaves. The city's free branch and leaf drop-off sites will close Nov. 30. The two drop sites are located at North Lyon Boulevard, near the Sioux Empire Fairgrounds, and Chambers Street, near the cityโs Household Hazardous Waste Facility. Both sites are closed on Thanksgiving Day this week but are otherwise open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
- ๐Vote for SF Simplified's tree. Ok, ok, I won't tell you who to vote for. BUT you should go check out all of the decorated trees at the Washington Pavilion, including the one from Sioux Falls Simplified featuring a bunch of headlines from the last year. This year, it's a little friendly competition, and the community gets to vote for their favorite tree. So go show some love to your favorite local news outlet. ๐
- Last chance to weigh in on arts & culture. The city is working on developing an arts and culture strategic plan (background here), and now's the time to share your feedback. An online survey closes Dec. 1, so this is your last week to have some input on the plan that will guide arts and culture programming for years to come. Take the survey and learn more here.
- Match gift to keep kids fed. Hungry Hearts this week pledged to match donations to the Sioux Falls School District's Angel Fund up to $100,000. The Angel Fund covers student lunch debt to ensure all kids are able to get a hot meal. Every dollar counts, and even a $10 donation provides more than a week of meals for one kid. Here's more info:
