Simplified: Spooky season is upon us! And whether you're all-in on haunted houses and scary movies, or if you're more of a "let's hang at the pumpkin patch and then hit up a trunk-or-treat" vibe, there's something for everyone happening in Sioux Falls. Here's your Simplified breakdown.

For the kids who just want candy

There are SO many Trunk or Treat events that the odds are good we missed some here. BUT, in the name of simplicity, here's my best attempt at rounding them up in a useful manner.

For the party-all-night crowd

There's a Halloween bar crawl happening downtown on Saturday, Oct. 31 where you can hit a ton of bars, dress up, enjoy food specials at some spots, and get exclusive drink specials. Details here.

For the fans of haunted houses

The Jaycees Feargrounds is up and running Thursday through Saturday. You can save $5 buying tickets online ahead of time. Details here.

Terror 29 has both a haunted house and a haunted corn maze open Thursday through Saturday through the end of the month. Details here.

And, if that's not enough for you, you can also check out Twisted Nightmare in Brandon also Thursday through Saturday. Details here.

For fans of haunted stuff who also would rather just sit and chill than stand in line and get scared

The Old Courthouse Museum has you covered with a Haunted Sioux Falls bus tour that'll take you around haunted spots throughout the city. Tours start at 6:30 for $15, and they're happening Thursday, Oct. 22, Tuesday, Oct. 27 and Thursday, Oct. 29.

For the little learners

There are also a handful of Halloween events that incorporate learning into the spookiness. Or, at the very least, you're in a spot where it's likely your kid will learn something.

Take, for example, the Old Courthouse Museum, which is hosting a Halloween party from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31. Kids can trick or treat, do a scavenger hunt, crafts and more. Details here.

You can also learn about animals and encounter them firsthand at the Butterfly House and Aquarium's Spooky Seas event where you can meet the Little Mermaid, make a pirate hat and grab a treat bag on your way out, while supplies last. Details here.

Saturday also brings the return of Spooky Science at the Washington Pavilion with experiments, hands-on activities and an appearance from Radley Rex. Details here.

For the not-so-spooky sports fans

Great Shots is hosting a Halloween Bash on Tuesday, Oct. 27 with fun for the whole family including a costume contest, face painting, a DJ and more. The event is free (golf not included), and golf bays are available for rent. Details here.

Or, if you're more of a runner, you could check out the Trick or Treat 5K and 10K happening Saturday, Oct. 24 at Pasley Park. Details here.

And, if you wanna show off on some skates, Skate City is hosting a costume skate event (with special character guests) on Saturday, Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to noon. Details here.

For the multi-tasker

Take your kids trick-or-treating downtown on Sunday, Oct. 25 at a whole bunch of participating businesses.

And while you're out and about, you can get a head start on some holiday gift shopping because, as we all know, the second the clock hits midnight on Halloween, we switch to Christmas.
