Happy Monday! Megan here.

Weather check: Still hot

This week, there are quite a few public meetings to tune into, including another meeting of the Riverline District Steering Committee.

Here's a look at what I'm watching:

Upcoming public meetings

Sioux Falls City Council

When: Informational meeting at 4 p.m. Tuesday followed by a joint city/county meeting at 5 p.m.

Where: Carnegie Town Hall

Full agendas here

Topics of interest: During the informational, councilors will get an update from Public Health Director Joe Kippley on emergency medical services.

  • Then during the joint meeting, councilors and commissioners will look at a few conditional use permits related to properties in the joint jurisdiction area.

Sioux Falls School Board

When: 5:30 p.m. Monday

Where: Instructional Planning Center

Full agenda here

Topics of interest: Board members will get a report on athletics and other after-school activities, and they'll also discuss the opt-out resolution – i.e. the amount of money they'll bring in on top of property tax limits.

Minnehaha County Commission

When: 9 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a budget meeting at 10 a.m.

Where: Third floor of the county admin building

Full agenda here

Topics of interest: Commissioners will get an update on how the Sheriff's Office is using license plate readers. They'll also vote to sign a $200,000 contract with Architecture Incorporated on putting together a master plan for the county offices and future needs to accommodate population growth.

Lincoln County Commission

When: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday

Where: Commission meeting room, Canton

Full agenda here

Topics of interest: Commissioners will hear from several departments on their budget needs for the coming year. Additionally, the board will hear and vote on a proposed antisemitism resolution (probably in no small part because of this whole thing.)

Other stuff I'm watching

  • Riverline District. Where we last left off in the Riverline District saga, the city work group was looking for a non-government entity to essentially take over the project. Now, the committee will meet again at 4 p.m. Monday, and though the agenda is not yet posted, be sure that I'll keep ya posted on what happens.
  • Downtown park. Jacobson Plaza is really close to completion. We'll check in with the city to see how the largest park (not just in the city, but in the region) is coming along.
