Happy Monday! Megan here.
Weather check: Pretty warm but more snow on the way
Status check: I'm in Chicago this week for the Online News Association conference! I'm excited to be part of the Project C creator cohort and learning from fellow journalists trying to meet readers where they are in a digital age.
This week, there aren't many (or, really, any) public meetings happening. BUT it is "Veto Day" on Monday in the state legislature, so at the state level there's some stuff to watch. Plus, the break in meetings gives me more time to work on a Simplified election guide for you ahead of the June primary and share some more community-focused stories.
Here's a look at what I'm watching:
- Cancer screenings. It's the end of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and I'll have a look at what you should know about cancer screenings in your 30s and 40s – lookin' at you, fellow Millennials.
- Library cuteness. As Siouxland Libraries kicks off its annual "One Book Siouxland" event series this week featuring the book "True Biz" by Sara Novic, I'll bring you a sweet story about how library programming is connecting with toddlers through American Sign Language.
