O’Gorman upsets top-ranked Lincoln in season-opener
Before the season started, Bishop O’Gorman head coach Jayson Poppinga said his offense this year could be sneaky.
Point taken.
O’Gorman quarterback Chace Hermanson threw for 465 yards on a 33-for-51 effort that included three touchdown passes in a 42-35 upset over No. 1 Sioux Falls Lincoln on Friday at Howard Wood Field.
Isaac Myers caught eight balls from Hermanson for 108 yards. Tanner Charron caught six balls for 129 yards and two touchdowns.
O’Gorman, 1-0, trailed 14-0 after one quarter before their charge to the lead, which came for good at 28-21 when Charron intercepted Lincoln quarterback Brody Schafer for a pick-6 from the Lincoln 30-yard line.
