Happy Monday! Megan here.

It's January in Sioux Falls, and you know what that means: burger mania!

And listen, I know the goal here is to support restaurants during what's otherwise a slow season. But I also see Burger Battle as a reminder of the massive impact Sioux Falls can have when we all rally around a cause.

So, without further ado, I'd like to introduce you all to the Local News Burger.

This burger has it all, including:

  • Holding public officials accountable,
  • Giving you reliable information about the forces that shape Sioux Falls,
  • Simplifying complex topics,
  • Empowering you to be a part of shaping our community's future,
  • Providing never-before-seen levels of election coverage for the 2026 mayoral race,
  • Sharing local events,
  • Introducing you to cool people doing cool things.

All for the low, low price of $10 (making it, I think, the cheapest burger in the battle).

Here's my goal: I want to sell 500 news burgers before the end of January.

  • The fine print: Your "news burger" purchase is a one-time payment supporting the work of Sioux Falls Simplified. There's not a real hamburger – the meat is merely metaphorical.
    • But if you've ever felt a little smarter because of reading Sioux Falls Simplified
  • And, for what it's worth, there's nothing stopping you from buying more than one. 😉
